Soil Mapping

A detailed and accurate soil map is essential to understand how you can maximise your land use options within any constraints of your land resource.

To assist you in this process, a detailed and accurate soil map is essential, which can only be provided by on-site soil mapping by someone with specialist knowledge of the soils in the region, someone who can competently identify and map the different soil types and someone who understands the current management requirements.

Land use options can include (but are not limited to):

  • Avocados, kiwifruit and other types of horticulture

  • Subdivisions

  • Land amalgamation

  • Title transfers

  • Zoning changes

  • Highly Productive Land assessments

During any of these processes, District Councils often require soils to be mapped in detail to identify high class, prime and elite soils and High Productive Land as they require protection under regional and district plans and under the National Policy Statement for Highly Productive Land.

For over 15 years, HLM has been providing soil mapping services to help landowners make informed decisions on their production options and assisting them to evaluate their land use potential. We are experts in the necessary requirements and standards to assist landowners in this process.
